How many projects are on you needles?

How many projects are on you needles?

I actually have only a couple of projects on my needles right now. On average, I would say I have 4 projects going at any one time. Why I would have so many projects going at one time? Well, there are different types of projects. Some project are harder then others. What I feel like knitting on depends on my mood or the energy I have at any one time.

Here are 3 different types of project I try to have going at all times;

Concentration Projects

These are the projects that take all my concentration. II tend to be sitting at a table instead of my chair. I can have music going but no books, podcasts or tv shows. These project tend to have complicated charts or complicated rows with many things happening in each row. Color work, cables and maybe lace are the types of knitting that need that level of concentration.

Interesting Projects

These are ones that have a rhythm to them. There is just enough to keep track of. But there is a rhythm and so I can knit and still listen to a book, podcasts and watch/listen to the tv.

"Stupid Knitting" Project

These are the projects are very easy. No thinking is really involved for long periods of time. I knit on these when I am in a social situation or tired and my brain doesn't want to think about anything.

"On-Going" Projects

I always have a pair of socks on my needles. Since there can be long periods when I don't knit on them they tend to be very simple patterns and I can figure out. I tend to work on socks between bigger projects and when I am traveling in the car for awhile. I love my hand knitted socks and this keeps me with a good collection of socks for the winter.

Right now I have two projects going.  A pair of socks and the crochet pattern below.

The Mermaid blanket is a Christmas present that I am hoping will be done by the end of July. It is very repetitive and the only I have to keep track of is what color the next piece needs to be. I connect the pieces as I go so it will be done when I am done. Love that!  I worked it out so I know that as long as I do 3 little pieces a day I will make my July deadline. Why do I want it done in July? Because it is a blanket and I won't want to knit on it once it gets hot and I don't want to have to pick i up again once it  gets cool.

So I am missing my technical harder knit right now.  I have the yarn for Fox Paws. I have read through all the projects on Ravelry and it is pretty unanimous that you need to be in a quiet place to knit at least the first 16 row repeat. After that you will get used to it and it won't be so hard. I just haven't had the time to sit down and do that yet. I guess I need to schedule it in my planner.

How do you manage your projects?
