Socks are Perfect for Summer Knitting
I love knitting sock in the summer. When it is hot outside it can be hard to get excited about knitting larger projects or knitting with heavier wools. Over the years I have found myself gravitating to socks for my summer knitting. Even though they are mostly knit with wool, sock yarn doesn’t seem to bother me. It isn’t as fuzzy and wooly as other yarns can be. With socks I don’t have a pile of yarn sitting in my lap. I also love the fact that it gives me lots of new socks to chose from once it does get cold.
There are so many options for socks that it is impossible to become board. Cuff down, toe-up. Heel flap, short row heels and after thought heels. They are the perfect canvas to try out color work, lace or cables. Or you can just knit a plain pair with yarn you love looking at and be so happy the whole time you are knitting it.
Don’t know how to knit socks? I suggest you try out a pair or two of baby socks. This way you get through the construction quickly. I find that the 1st pair of socks your brain is just trying to figure it out. The second pair of socks you start to really understand what is going on. Baby socks just means you get through the construction much faster.
